This type of steel boasts a minimum yield limit of 690 Mpa at thicknesses of up to 50 mm, with a tensile strength of 770 to 940 MPa. In acceptance testing, the notched bar impact test values were proven at -40°C for S690QL and -60°C for S690QL1.
The material is suitable for use in all standard welding processes and can be worked cold, taking factory specifications into account. If worked hot, the material must then be quenched and tempered to restore its original properties.
Other well-known factory names for high-strength fine grain steels include MAXIL, SUPRALSIM, DILLIMAX, WELDOX, ALDUR, NAXTRA and XABO.
