AN 400 grade steel is a special, wear-resistant material with a nominal hardness of 360–440 HB.
Sheets of this grade can be welded using any standard welding process and can be worked cold or hot, taking factory specifications into account. Machining processes can also be carried out with cobalt-alloyed high-speed steels.
Other well-known factory grades include HARDOX 400, XAR 400, DILLIDUR 400, ROC 400 and QUARD 400.
